The signpost at
the Nid d'Aigle (Eagle's Nest) -
alt 2386 m. From here paths lead to the Bionnassay
Glacier and onwards to the summit of Mont Blanc
for mountaineers. |

The rest area
at the Nid d'Aigle.
There is a restaurant here for the hungry and
thirsty hikers that walk up instead of taking
the TMB tram. |

Here is the
end of the line for the TMB tram at the
Nid d'Aigle. See the TMB section for more photos of
the railway line that climbs upto this point.
This tram is called Anne. |

Another view
of the TMB - note the steep incline.
Original plans were for the railway to climb to Mont
Blanc. World War 1 caused the line to end here and
no further progress has been made. |

Taking the path
from the Nid d'Aigle leads you to the
edge of the Bionnassay glacier. |

A close-up of
the Bionnassay glacier - magnificent. |

A panoramic
shot of the Bionnassay glacier taken from a
high point near the Nid d'Aigle. |
